Exploring VA Education Benefits

The first step in using VA education benefits at 麻豆原创 is gaining admission. Follow these steps to apply online and determine which benefits you may be eligible for.

Apply for admission to 麻豆原创.
Complete the .
Apply for VA education benefits.
Complete an through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Receive your Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
The VA will review your application and send you a Certificate of Eligibility. This document shows the type and percentage of benefits for which you are eligible.
Register for courses.
Enroll in the courses you plan to take during the semester in which you want to use your VA benefits.
Submit the ASUN VA Enrollment Certification Request Form.
After registering for courses, complete the 麻豆原创 .
- Attach your Certificate of Eligibility to the form.
- Submit this form only after you have registered for courses. Forms submitted before registration will be rejected.
ASUN certifies your enrollment.
Once your completed form is received, the ASUN School Certifying Official will certify your enrollment with the VA.
Receive your approved benefits.
The VA will work directly with you to provide your approved education benefits.

VA Education Benefit Program Overview

The VA offers several education benefit programs. Eligibility and application requirements vary by program.

Chapter 30 � Montgomery GI Bill庐 Active Duty

Eligibility

Generally, eligibility is based on qualifying active-duty service and other requirements established by the VA. At least two (2) years active duty, three (3) years active duty, or two (2) years active duty plus four (4) years Reserves.

New applicants: Complete VA Form 22-1990 through the .
Transfer students or students changing majors: Complete VA Form 22-1995.

Chapter 33 � Post-9/11 GI Bill^庐

Eligibility

Generally, service members who served on active duty for at least 90 aggregate days after September 10, 2001, may qualify, subject to VA eligibility requirements.

New applicants: Complete VA Form 22-1990 through the .
Transfer students or students changing majors: Complete VA Form 22-1995

Chapter 1606 � Montgomery GI Bill^庐 Selected Reserve

Eligibility

Chapter 1606: Completion of initial active duty training and active reservist with a 6-year obligation.
Chapter 1607: 90 days or more active-duty support of contingency operation or full-time National Guard duty responding to a national emergency.

Transfer students or students changing majors: Complete VA Form 22-1995.

Additional Benefit:

National Guard and Reservists are eligible for Federal Tuition Assistance administered by the Department of Defense. Contact your unit Administrator or the Education Office at Camp Robinson (Ft. Roots) in North Little Rock.

Chapter 35 � Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance

Eligibility

This benefit may be available to eligible spouses or children of veterans who died or became permanently and totally disabled as a result of a service-connected disability, subject to VA eligibility requirements.

Application Process

New applicants: Complete VA Form 22-5490 through the .
Transfer students or students changing majors: Complete VA Form 22-5495.

Chapter 1607 � REAP

Chapter 1607 provided education benefits to certain members of the Reserve components who served on active duty in support of a contingency operation or in response to a national emergency. Eligibility and availability of this program are subject to VA requirements.

Tuition Assistance

Tuition Assistance (TA) is a Department of Defense (DoD) program and is separate from VA education benefits. The VA does not administer Tuition Assistance.

Return of Unearned Tuition Assistance

If you withdraw from or are dismissed from classes, ASUN will return any unearned Tuition Assistance funds based on your last date of attendance (LDA). This process follows ASUN's Return to Title IV policy.

National Guard members and Reservists may also be eligible for Federal Tuition Assistance administered by the Department of Defense. Contact your unit administrator or the Education Office at Camp Robinson (Fort Roots) in North Little Rock for more information.

Military Transfer Credit

Your military experience may qualify for college credit or course waivers.

Submit Your Military Transcripts

Have your official military transcripts, such as the Joint Services Transcript (JST) or Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript, sent to the ASUN Office of Admissions.

Credit Evaluation

ASUN reviews military transcripts for potential academic credit and/or course waivers based on recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE).

Certificate of Eligibility

Students using GI Bill庐 benefits must provide their Certificate of Eligibility to the ASUN School Certifying Official. The certificate identifies your benefit eligibility and benefit percentage.

Fry Scholarship

The Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship may provide education benefits to eligible surviving spouses and children of service members who died in the line of duty after September 10, 2001.
